First Floor Exhibition Programme Space
The Museum’s lively and ambitious programme of temporary exhibitions has been the cornerstone of the Museum’s regeneration in the last few years and has raised its profile regionally, nationally and internationally. Exhibitions often feature elements of the Museum’s own collections complemented by loans from other institutions. Improvements in environmental controls, made in the last few years, have enabled the Museum to be bolder in the status of works sought on loan for exhibitions and in the nature of collections displayed.
A flexible, adaptable space is needed that can fully accommodate the needs of a constantly changing exhibition programme. To ensure that the exhibition programme continues to be popular and ground breaking, modern display systems and a state of the art lighting specification are required, as well as an internal storage system to allow for swift changeovers from one exhibition to the next.
