The Infante Cardinal Ferdinand (1609-1641)
The Infante Ferdinand was created a Cardinal at the age of ten. In this painting he seems to be in his early teens. In 1633 he was appointed Governor of the Spanish Netherlands, after the death of Isabella Clara Eugenia. He proved an able ruler. Like his brothers, he was a connoisseur and patron of the visual arts. Size: 198.1 x 111.8 cm
