Opening Hours

The Bowes Museum is open daily, closing only on 25 & 26 December and 1 January.
Galleries & Exhibitions 10.00 – 5.00, (Winter closing 4.00 1 Nov - 29 Feb), Café Bowes 10.00 – 4.30, Shop 10.00 – 5.00

Free Coach Parking

There is ample free coach parking on site and a drop off point is available at the front entrance and side entrances.

Access

The Bowes Museum has access to most areas including all exhibitions and fine and decorative art galleries, shop
and Café Bowes. Services include accessible entrance and toilet, lift, large print floor plans, portable induction loop
at reception, short audio visual with sub-titles and audio guide to specific galleries (limited numbers). Wheelchairs
are available on request, please call to book. Assistance dogs welcome. If you have any access requirements
please let us know in advance.

Tours and Lectures

The curatorial team at The Bowes Museum can provide specialist lectures for your group and the Friends of
The Bowes Museum offer free introductory tours. Please see the Tours and Lectures page for further details.

Refreshments

A range of refreshments and meals is prepared on the premises by Café Bowes to suit your group’s requirements.
Local produce is used as often as possible. Relax in Café Bowes and choose something from the daily menu or
enjoy the sumptuous surroundings of The Jubilee Room, with something from the set menu ordered in advance.

Gift Shop

Complete your group visit by browsing through our recently extended gift shop to find that perfect souvenir or to choose a special gift including books, crafts, cards, toys and art materials.

Payment

Payment to be made on the day of the visit by the Group Organiser. We would be grateful if admission and
catering costs could be paid separately. Cheques to be made payable to The Bowes Museum.
